Artist's Statement

My detailed observation of marks, graffiti, posters, etc, on walls and other surfaces (of interest both aesthetically and conceptually), originally led to me to start painting, working with mixed media to create similar textures.

I still make use of observations, which I sketch or photograph, and then work on with painting or collage. I also work more freely without any preconceived idea of what the final painting will be. My work also draws its imagery from itself in a continuous process of making.

I look both for immediacy and depth in my painting through reduction, use of colour and work on surface. I want my work to strike the viewer and lead him/her to reflection.
